Vintage Birthday
This week I designed a birthday card for a friend. My friend has a great sense of style and if she was my sister, I would have loved growing up in the same house with her so I could raid her closet! I know my friend likes boutique shopping and I have a favorite boutique I’d love to take her to next time she visits. It’s called 33 Butterflies located in Kahala Mall in Honolulu.
The cards I’m going to share with you today were inspired by a recent purchase I made at 33 Butterflies. Here is a photo of me wearing the blouse, can you see how it inspired my creation?
The first sample I created was a friendship card.
I created a vintage look by stamping with Smoky Slate Ink on Crumb Cake Card Stock. After stamping and coloring I added an embossed layer with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing folder. I also embossed the words “Hello You” with Black Embossing Powder. The flowers on this card are made of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and I used the Laura’s Tape Technique to make them shiny.
When I created my first birthday sample I decided to simplify it a bit. I didn’t do the tape technique and I didn’t do the embossing on the sentiment. I also used the Summer Shadows Dies that coordinate with this stamp set to create the flowers.
The last day to get these dies for FREE is today as they are a part of our annual Saleabration.
I thought this card was pretty but in the end I decided to use the taped and embossed version to send to my friend. I like how the tape makes the Pierced Blooms Dies flowers shine just like the embroidered flowers on my blouse.
I completed all of these cards with vintage embellishments I’ve collected from Stampin’ Up! over the years. How fun!
If you’d like to learn how to make this card, check out my latest video tutorial below.
Tomorrow I plan on dropping off one of these card samples at 33 Butterflies. I can’t wait to see what new items I’ll see that will spark my creativity and inspired my next creation!
Have a happy, safe and blessed weekend everyone!
Stamped Blessings,
Cindy
