Spam Musubi Wrapped For You!

If you live on Oahu, I assume you’ve eaten at Tanioka’s before. Whether you’ve stopped there for lunch or picked up food for a gathering, Tanioka’s is always a good choice. Their food is delicious and their customer service amazing!

It has been on my heart to support local businesses, especially during this challenging season. So for Christmas, I decided to purchase some gift cards from Tanioka’s. Before I picked up the gift cards, I had an idea! What if I made the gift card holder look like a delicious spam musubi? Was that even possible?

I got to work creating my paper musubi and as it came together, I began to smile and even giggle. I like it when that happens during my creative process. I tend to stamp “out of the box” often but this was a first for me. I have never attempted to make Spam, seaweed or rice out of card stock before!

When it was done, I was SO delighted with this project and a little hungry too! Would you like to see it?

Introducing my Spam Musubi Gift Card Box.

Spam Musubi Gift Card Box

The box was made out of a 5 1/2 x 7 1/2 piece of Whisper White Thick Card Stock that I scored on my Simply Scored Tool. I then embossed the entire piece with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing folder to create a “rice” like texture. The Spam was made by layering 6 pieces of Terracotta Tile Card Stock on top of each other and sponging the edges with a little Terracotta Tile Ink. The nori or seaweed was created by taking a 2 x 8 1/2 strip of Basic Black Card Stock and covering it with a piece of clear packing tape. This is also known as “Laura’s Tape Teqnique”. I then ran the taped card stock through my Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine using the Old World Paper 3D Embossing folder to create the perfect seaweed belly band for my project.

Now I have to tell you as much as I loved this project when I created it, I loved it EVEN more when I picked up the gift cards from Tanioka’s. I couldn’t believe it when I saw that Tanioka’s actually has a gift card with a photo of a delicious Spam musubi on it!!! It is PERFECT for this little paper musubi box, as you can see in the photo below!

If you are looking for a wonderful gift to bless someone with, why not head on over to Tanioka’s in Waipahu and pick up some gift cards. The best part about picking up a gift there is that you can then order lunch. The only problem is what to choose? Spicy Ahi, Grandmas maki sushi, crispy fried chicken, a Hawaiian plate or the best tasting Spam musubi in Hawaii? No matter what you choose, I promise you’ll enjoy. They also offer curb side pick up as well. For more information about Tanioka’s, you can CLICK HERE to go to their website.

Warm and Delicious Wishes,

Cindy
