Dale's Beautiful Lei's
A couple weeks ago, I went on a rare outing to Waikiki. It was strange to be down there and see how empty it was compared to how it usually is at this time of year. The purpose for the outing was to go on a photo shoot with my daughter who is a photographer. I was in need of some updated photos for a re-branding and updating project I’m working on for this website. My daughter knew that I needed lei’s for the photo shoot, so she suggested that I order them from her friend Dale. I love lei’s so when I was asked what type of lei I wanted, I replied “something colorful”, since I knew I’d be wearing all white.
When I saw what Dale created for me, I was AMAZED and OVERWHELMED with joy. They were the most unique and special leis I have ever seen in my life.
Here is one of my daughters photos of the lei Dale created for me. This picture shows a single lei that is made up of several strands of ti leaves and tropical flowers that have been uniquely woven together. Isn’t it GORGEOUS?
Dale also created this beautiful Haku lei that I am wearing in the photo below. Wearing Dale’s lei’s made me feel so honored and special. I am so grateful to my daughter for connecting me with her talented friend Dale.
When I got home, I went to work on a Thank You card for Dale. With the lei’s in mind I took out my supplies and created this card pictured below.
To achieved a water colored “look”, I textured a stamped piece of Whisper White Card Stock using my Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.
I worked on a couple of different variations of this card.
In the design pictured below, I masked off sections of a Whisper White card stock with a post it note and then over stamped each section with an image from the Positive Thoughts stamp set.
Below is another similar variation, where I stamped strips of card stock and then put them back together like I was putting together a puzzle. I also covered the colorful strips with clear packing tape to make them shine. In both of these layouts, I textured a white piece or card stock with the Ornate Floral Embossing Folder to represent the white flowers on the white muumuu I am wearing in the photo.
As the stamp sentiment says above, I truly can’t thank Dale enough for the blessing of wearing two of his beautiful lei creations.
I have to thank my daughter too, for adventuring with me “from a distance” to capture some photos that you will see featured on my updated site in the near future.
