Laura With Love
Today is my friend Laura’s Birthday. Laura has been a member of my team, Stamped With Aloha for the past 20 years. In addition to being a kind and thoughtful friend, Laura is an incredibly gifted artist, or maybe a better description would be “Heartist”. When it came to designing a birthday card for her, I wanted to incorporate things she taught me. I knew I needed to put a heart or pineapple on the card because she loves both. I also knew I had to use the fabulous tape technique she recently taught me, which I have named “the LTT” or Laura’s Tape Technique.
Here is the birthday card I created for Laura.
First of all I chose to use the October 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit for Laura’s Card. Over the summer, Laura and I started hosting regular Paper Pumpkin Procrastinators Parties together. It has been fun to dive into our kits while on Facebook Messenger and see what alternative creations we could come up with to share at our gatherings.
If you look closely at Laura’s card you can see that I choose to put a heart on it. If the heart looks glossy, you are correct. This is where I used the fabulous Tape Technique that Laura taught me. I think you will see me use this technique as often as I used to put dazzling diamonds on my cards, and that was ALWAYS!!!
I also incorporated the stamp set Posted For You because I loved the sentiment “Sending Love Your Way” and this set also had a birthday sentiment I could use for the inside of the card.
One thing you can’t see in my photo, is how I die cut a heart out of the shiny gold card stock that is on the front of the card. I learned how to be a better “Paper Conservationist” from Laura. She is the Queen of conserving paper. If you watch my video at the end of this post, you will see how I cut out a gold heart and then used it to create a second alternate project.
Here is the second card.
Do you see that pretty gold heart? I think Laura will be proud of how I learned from her how to use my specialty paper wisely. This card was made out of the stamp set that came in the October 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit. I also did some embossing with the Greenery Embossing folder and I punched two hearts with the Heart Punch Pack.
Both of these cards are in the mail and on their way to Laura. They may be a little late but that is ok. Hopefully, Laura will think it is more fun to read about her cards here.
Also, I’ve created a video in her honor where I teach how I put these cards together and share all the ways Laura has been an inspiration to me.

Happy Birthday Laura, I hope you have a day as amazing as you are!
Sending you love and birthday blessings,
