Healing Hugs

During my battle with stage 4 Lymphoma, I was stuck at home for months. Now that I am in remission, its strange to be stuck at home again due to the Corona Virus Pandemic. The difference is however, I have way more energy now that I am feeling better. So, rather than be frustrated that I feel good but shouldn’t leave the house, I’ve decided to channel my energy into finding new ways to share my stamping projects with you.

Yesterday, I shared a post about two of the most recent projects I have been working on. I worked on filming and editing videos and posted them to my You Tube channel. For those of you who know me well, you know this is a big deal because I consider myself very technically challenged. But, I’ve decided to get out of my comfort zone and learn something new.

Right after posting the videos, I had a lot of feedback saying that the video links were hard to find. So today, with MUCH help from my friend Lisa, I have found a new way to make accessing my videos easier. Here are the links to my most recent videos.

Be sure to subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already! I look forward to sharing projects with you in this new way!

I designed this punch art Hula Girl as I was working on prepping swap cards for our Tropical themed stamp camp. Once I figured out how to make the hula girl, I worked on several different designs until I came up with the one I liked best.

The first design I made looked like this.

Punch Art Hula Girl Card

Besides the sentiment that comes from the Peaceful Moments stamp set, there is no other stamping on this card. I do love the pineapple print from the strip of Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper that I used. That is the same paper I used on the Hula Girl’s dress.

I decided that I would like to try stamping a background to feature images from our Timeless Tropical stamp set. So here is the next card I created.

Punch Art Hula Girl Birthday Card

I liked the pink hibiscus background a lot. I also liked the textured Lauhala mat that was created with Crumb Cake Card Stock and our Coastal Weave Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

I almost went with this design to make my swap but then I thought I’d try to add a little more dimension. So I added plumeria flower accents that I created with the In The Tropics Dies.

I liked this card but then the thought of having to die cut 120 flowers for my swap led me to chose a different design.

As I thought about all I’ve been through on my cancer journey as well as what is going on in the world today, I changed the sentiment and went back to a simpler card with an encouraging message. This is the card I created 40 times for my swap. The words, “sending healing hugs” comes from the stamp set called So Sentimental.

Punch Art Hula Girl Card

By simply changing the position of the girls arms it appears that she is reaching out to give a healing hug to a friend in need. That’s something we all could use today, isn’t it? Except for my friend Julie S, she’d prefer a healing fist or elbow bump!!!

I know not everyone is a hugger, but if you are one like me, it makes this time of social distancing even more challenging.

When you think about it, getting a hand stamped card from a friend is kind of like getting a hug in the mail. So, if you have time this week, and I have a feeling many of you may have just that! Why not spend some creative time stamping and sending some healing hugs in the mail.

I think by doing so, you will make the world a brighter place!

With love and healing hugs,

Cindy
