Faux Side Step Card: Creative Ways To Make This Fun Fold Card
I think you’re going to really enjoy making this Faux Side Step Card! This card is in the family of ‘fun fold cards’ and even though the card may look hard to make it’s actually very easy.
During a recent visit to Hawaii, demonstrator Lynsay Mahon blessed me with this really cute faux side step card—the card with the ship shown below.
I was anxious to make this fun fold since Lynsay said it was simple to create. I wanted my card to be full of spring colors so I chose the Stampin’ Up! Cottage Rose stamp set and various colors of Stampin’ Blends (alcohol markers) to make a beautiful spring floral scene.

It really helps to see the visual, step-by-step process of how to make this card so be sure and watch the videos; the measurements are all included in the video too!
Other Faux Side Step Card Designs
UK demonstrator, Martin Stone, has really inspired me lately. One of the tips I learned from him was to add coloring around stamped images before you die-cut them. If you look closely at these flowers you will see a blue shadow from my Pool Party Blends marker.
Don’t like to color? Try making the side step lemon card (below); this card was made with the Stampin’ Up! Sweet Citrus bundle. Don’t you love how details the embossed panel is for those lemons?!
The second card below was made by demonstrator Lynsay Mahon, and features the Stampin’ Up! On The Ocean Dies. This faux side step card is a nice example of minimal stamping (only the greeting) and everything else is just cardstock, designer paper, and craft dies.
Thank you to Lynsay and Martin for being so inspiring this week and always!
