33 Butterflies
In April of 2019, I went to Kahala Mall with my daughter Jess. We ended up in the dressing room of one of my favorite boutiques, 33 Butterflies. The next thing you know we were trying on matching outfits.
This was a dream come true for this Mama who always loved being matchy-matchy with her little girl.
It was shortly after this photo was taken, in these matching Laura Ashley dresses, that my sweet little girl let me know she really didn’t love wearing dresses like this anymore. And so ended our matchy-matchy days!!!
Today, as I was remembering that shopping trip to Kahala Mall, tears began to flow. You see we were in there because we were looking for clothes for our summer trip to Greece. I had no idea while shopping that day that I would be deathly sick within a month of taking that photo. In fact, I was so sick that we were certain our trip would be canceled. Miraculously, my undiagnosed sickness cleared up and we went on our trip and I got to wear this very comfortable and fun outfit from 33 Butterflies in Greece.
If you follow my story, you know that my sickness returned at the end of our trip and as soon as we arrived home, I was diagnosed with stage 4 Lymphoma. After a battle filled with miracles, I am currently one month away from celebrating my first anniversary of being in remission. I know I talk about my story a lot on this blog. I think its because I never want to forget what I went through and all the lessons I learned. I also want to continue to encourage others going through challenges with words of love and hope.
Right now a lot of businesses are going through challenges due to the pandemic. I don’t know how 33 Butterflies is doing, but they like so many other local businesses were on my heart! So, I wanted to find a way to support them during this time.
I saw something I liked on their Instagram and I called the store. A very helpful employee offered me amazing customer service and I was able to make a purchase over the phone and have someone pick it up for me. I am glad that they have made changes in the store to provide a safe environment for people to shop.
At Christmas time I was blessed to receive a gift card from their store. The gift card was SO beautiful that I used it to inspire the project I’m going to share with you today.
Here it is…
This box is actually one of our new Love You Always Treat Boxes. They are SO easy to assemble and require no adhesive. I used my Floating and Fluttering Bundle and the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set to create the butterflies and sentiment for this project. When you slide open the box, you can see where I created an insert to hold the beautiful 33 Butterflies gift card that inspired my creation.
If you’d like to learn how to create this gift card box, below is a video tutorial with step by step instructions.
As this week comes to an end I am feeling grateful. I thank God that I am feeling healthy and strong today. I am also very thankful that very soon my little girl will be giving birth to her little girl.
I had to laugh the other day when my daughter and I were doing some virtual shopping on the phone for baby. What did my daughter pick out for her little girl? Some matchy-matchy headbands for she and her of course!
I am sure I’ll be heading over to her home often to help with baby and she lives really close to the 33 Butterflies boutique! That means, I will have the opportunity to stop in there more often! By doing so I can continue to do my part to support a local business that I love.
Happy Aloha Friday everyone.
Have a blessed weekend,
Cindy
