So Thankful
When I stepped into the Cancer Center for my fourth treatment, I was greeted by some of my favorite nurses. They looked at my outfit and said to each other, “I don’t know if we should let her in here wearing THAT", as they pointed at my SeaHawks shirt and hat!
I had no idea they were 49er fans!!! After a lot of teasing back and forth, I reached into my bag and handed them some hand stamped cards as a peace offering! Never underestimate the power of a handmade card, LOL.
I try and bring cards for the nurses as often as I am able. I just want to find ways to say thank you to them for their excellent care. I feel so thankful to have such a wonderful place to go for treatment where I can laugh and smile and also feel comfortable and well cared for. I am a true believer that laughter is good medicine and at my chemo treatment #4 it was just the medicine I needed.
I can’t believe that I am over half way through treatment, the time has flown by way faster than I anticipated but time does start to fly during the holiday season.
I have to admit, I was a little bummed when I saw my original schedule for chemo. I saw that I would be going through treatment right through the holidays and wondered how it would affect the special traditions that have become so important to me over the years.
One of those traditions is the Home For The Holidays craft fair that I have been a part of for the past several years. This is an intimate, holiday boutique that is held at my friend Karin’s home in Waikele. I usually spend several weeks creating craft items to sell at this event. Since being diagnosed with cancer, I am unable to stamp as I usually do. So I knew it would be really challenging for me to have the strength to create everything needed to supply my table for this special event. I wanted so badly for the event to continue with or without me and guess what, something very special happened.
A group of talented Stampin’ Up! sisters came forward to be stamping angels! They created projects for me to sell at the fair and mailed them to me from all across the US and Canada! Over the past few weeks I have been so amazed at the beautiful projects I have opened and it has made me feel so thankful that my contribution to the fair WILL go on. My beautiful daughter has offered to run my table and now she has amazing crafts to sell all handmade with love from some amazing friends.
I am more excited for this fair than ever before and guess what? I have decided to use all of these projects to raise funds for American Cancer Society Hope Lodge. So that way, I can take the blessings that were sent to me and use them to bless others.
Would you like to see the beautiful creations I will have available this Saturday at the fair?
Well, here they are!
Demonstrator Lisa Curcio from Florida sent me a bunch of cute Gift Card Holders. They are in different colors and styles but all have a belly band that you slide off to open.
Lisa also sent me a box full of cute post it note holders. They are made with a variety of our most popular designer series papers. Below is just one of several styles you can choose from. These make great little gifts for your co-workers and friends.
Lisa made sure I didn’t forget Man’s Best Friend, she sent me a box full of these cute Milk Bone Dog Biscuit treats for all the furry friends that might be on your Christmas List.
Demonstrator Linda Bauwin sent me these cute Snowman Candy favors. Each one features a different hand cut sparkly snowman and a hidden candy treat.
Demonstrator Kim Williams knows I love tropical things so she created these cute note pads and pens using Tropical Chic DSP.
Kim also made these sparkly snow globe ornaments that can be used to decorate your tree or as a fancy tag on a gift.
Demonstrator Lynsay Mahon of Canada sent me these bright and colorful Gift Card Holders.
The front pocket has a gold clip where you can add your gift card and the back pocket has a card that can be removed to write a special message for the recipient. This project was made out of a gold striped paper bag, how creative!
Demonstrator Amy Storrie sent me these amazing holders. The one of the left holds a holiday hand sanitizer and the one on the right a holiday lip balm. Both are so cute, don’t you think?
Demonstrator Missy Shipman sent me these fabric tissue holders. I love the tag that says, we “tissue” a Merry Christmas. The box she sent has a variety of different colored holders that are all so happy and cute, just like Missy is.
My Downline and friend, Demonstrator Laura DuBois sent me these amazing, over the top snow globes! They are quite spectacular.
It is hard to capture all the little details of this ornament in a photo, you have to see it in person. I only have a limited amount of these and know they will sell out fast. So far everyone who has seen these in my stamp studio says they’d love to have one!!!
I was also thankful to receive lots of cards to sell. Demonstrator Tina Rosenkrans sent me a huge box of cards that I will be able to sell individually. This one was my favorite from the box she sent.
Demonstrator Sharon Armstrong created these cute card boxes, each box is filled with 2 or 3 cards. These would make perfect stocking stuffers for your friends who love cards during the holidays!
Finally, Demonstrator Meg Loven created these cute card display kits. Meg used my favorite Snowman Season DSP to cover the front and back of the clothes pins that come in this kit. I love it.
Can you see why I feel incredibly thankful, grateful and blessed!!!
It is a busy time of year, so the fact that these talented demonstrators took the time out of their schedule to create these amazing projects means so much to me. This has provided me a way to keep one of my special holiday traditions without adding any stress or pressure during a time where I am supposed to focus on healing and rest.
In this season of Thanksgiving, I have so much to be thankful for. To each of these stamping angels! I hope you know how grateful I am to know you and call you my sisters and friends. Thank you for making a difference in my life and for inspiring me to make a difference here in Hawaii for the people at Hope Lodge.
If you are free this weekend, please come and visit us. I plan on being there for part of the day and would love to have you be a part of this very special event.
Below is the flyer, feel free to invite a friend or two.
With a Thankful Heart,
