Tropical Escape

I am writing from the Honolulu Airport where I am about to make a Tropical Escape to Maui for the day!  I am really looking forward to the opportunity I'll have to reunite with special friends.

One of the cards I am bringing to share with my friend Cheryl is the first card I made using products from our Tropical Escape Suite.   This beautiful suite is found on pages 120 and 121 of the 2018-2019 Stampin' Up! catalog.  Although our new catalog has lots of fabulous new products in it, this suite is my favorite.

The stamp set Tropical Chic is gorgeous and can be bundled together with the coordinating Tropical Framelits.  The Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper is so beautiful too!  I used all three of these products to create this punch art girl wearing a Haku (Flower Crown) Lei.

For you punch art lovers, here are a list of the punches used to create this girl listed with the card stock colors I used.

Face - 1 1/2 Circle (Blushing Bride), Hair - Pretty Label (Basic Black), Bangs - 1 1/2 Circle (Basic Black), Body - 1 3/4 Circle (Blushing Bride), Flowers - Bunny Builder (Crushed Curry) Dress - 1 1/2 Circle Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper.  The Fern was not made with a punch but with the Tropical Thinlits.

Here are some images of how I punched out the dress.

I am someone who loves flower leis and Haku's are my favorite.  You know that saying, "Be a Pineapple.  Stand Tall, Wear a Crown and Be Sweet on the Inside".?  I think if I wore a crown everyday it would be made of flowers!!

As I was creating this card I was thinking about some Haku's I recently made in the middle of the night.  Let me tell you how that happened.  This will give me another opportunity to share a few more wedding photos with you too.

At my daughter Jessica's wedding there were the most GORGEOUS flowers I have ever seen.  Although I knew some of the wedding plans I hadn't really heard the plan for the flowers.  I only knew that Jessica was excited to hire SU-V Expressions to do all the flowers for the wedding.

My first look at the flowers was at the hotel where we were all getting ready.  The brides bouquet arrived and it was so beautiful.

I was so touched when during the reception Jessica spoke some very kind words about me and then presented me with her amazing bouquet.  What a sweet and thoughtful surprise that was!

The flowers on the arch were absolutely breathtaking.  I am so glad photographer Amber Shoniwitz captured them in this photo, one of my favorites from the day.

After the wedding the arch flowers were moved to the reception area.

At the end of the night many of the flowers and centerpieces were given away.  However, as we were leaving, we realized there were still quite a few of these arch pieces left over!  We couldn't leave them behind!   So we packed them up and carried them home.

Once we got home, we put flowers in vases but we came to a point where we still had extra flowers!   Then my friend Linda had a great idea!  "Let's make Haku's", she said.  Even though it was very, very late, we decided to go for it!

Cindy and Lisa

After all we were still feeling pretty energised as we reflected on what a great day it had been. So Lisa, Carrie, Linda and I began to work on Haku Lei's for Mother's Day!

Here is a photo we took in the wee hours of the morning.  Can you tell were a little tired and loopy?

This photo was taken around 3:30am after we had made several Haku's for all of the Moms, Aunties and Grandmothers we would be seeing on Mother's Day.

Here is a picture of Renette (Brett's Mom) and I wearing the Hakus at our Mother's Day brunch.  We were so thankful that Brett and Jess could join us before they left on their Honeymoon.

Making Haku's with friends was fun!  I feel the same way about stamping, too!  It was fun making this punch art card.  This will be the first of many more cards I will create with the Tropical Escape Suite!
